I've just returned from an incredible trip to Bonaire, and I couldn't wait to share my experiences with you.

Located in the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao).

Bonaire offers a unique blend of tranquility, adventure, and stunning natural beauty.

5 Things That Surprised Me On Our First Visit To Bonaire

  1. Cactus Island: Bonaire’s desert landscape is home to diverse cacti.

  2. More to Bonaire than just diving: While known for diving, I was pleasantly surprised how many other activities I could do: windsurfing, snorkeling, birding, land sailing, deep sea fishing, boating, and hiking to name a few!

  3. Easy to explore: We had a rental car dropped off at our hotel for a few days and it gave us the opportunity to explore the island. Some islands are a bit precarious to drive on, we had no problems navigating Bonaire!

  4. Island Life Made Easy: On the island they accept USD currency, have the same outlets and English is the common language even though it is a Dutch island.

  5. Easy to get to: Although it is located in an area that avoids the hurricane season and is close to South America, there was a large increase in direct flights from the US in the last few years!

During my stay, I had the pleasure of residing at the Harbour Village Beach Club in a beautiful beachfront two-bedroom walk-out suite with my family. This resort truly embodies the essence of Bonaire, offering a secluded tropical paradise with private beach, charming guest rooms, and exceptional amenities. The PADI 5-Star IDC Dive & Water Sports Center on-site made it incredibly easy to explore the island's renowned diving spots, whether you're a beginner or an experienced diver.

One of the highlights of traveling to Bonaire is its accessibility. Direct flights from the Northeast make it an easy and convenient destination for those looking for a quick Caribbean getaway. Moreover, being outside the hurricane belt means you can enjoy Bonaire's beautiful weather year-round, making it an ideal choice for any time of the year.
Bonaire is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a wide range of activities:

  • World-class Snorkeling and Diving: Explore the crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life of Bonaire National Marine Park.

  • Windsurfing and Land Sailing: Enjoy the island's consistent winds at spots like Lac Bay.

  • Hiking and Birding: Discover the island's unique landscapes and wildlife, including the famous flamingo sanctuary.

  • Kayaking: Paddle through Bonaire's mangrove forests for a unique perspective on the island's ecosystem.

Bonaire is truly a hidden gem in the Caribbean, offering something for everyone. Whether you're looking for relaxation, adventure, or simply a chance to connect with nature, this island is sure to captivate your heart. I highly recommend adding Bonaire to your travel bucket list!
